Who's ready for fall? You can't see me but picture me at my stand up desk with my hand raised high. The temperature is cooling off Starbucks is promoting the heck out of PSL's (pumpkin spice lattes for those not familiar) and football season is in full swing.
With that in mind I thought it was the perfect timing to share a few of my favorite fall snacks with you--and you can eat them at your standing desk: no mess no fuss.
Candy Corn
It's been around since the 1880's and for good reason. It's delicious. And once fall hits it's the perfect snack to have at your desk. True you can't gorge yourself on a ton of it like you could say carrots but nothing says "autumn" like a handful of candy corn. I know there's also Indian corn reindeer corn cupid corn freedom corn bunny corn and maybe even more variants but the old school candy corn created by George Renninger of Philadelphia is my jam. Plus have you ever mixed salted peanuts with your candy corn? Don't call me crazy until you've tried it.
Sweet and Salty Pumpkin Seeds
In the fall there's pumpkin picking ... and pumpkin eating. I like pumpkin pie as much as the next guy but there's another part of the pumpkin I equally enjoy: the seeds. Sweet and salty roasted pumpkin seeds are one of the best snacks out there; it's kind of like kettle corn...but with pumpkin seeds. And the sweet/salty combo is so addictive you just might eat an entire pumpkin's worth of seeds in one sitting (I mean standing).
Pumpkin Spice Cookies
The moment the first gust of cool air blows whispers about pumpkin spice everything begin floating around. You know why? Because pumpkin spice anything is pretty darn tasty. Especially pumpkin spice cookies. Topped with some browned butter frosting and accompanied by a cold glass of apple cider you've got a seriously delicious snack on your hands.
Maple Syrup Granola
If you're noshing for a healthier snack to keep in supply at your standing computer desk try out some maple syrup granola. It's a portable easy-to-make snack and also provides the sustenance you need when hitting that 3pm slump. Paired with Greek yogurt it can also make the perfect breakfast after a jog in the brisk autumn air (or check out some breakfast ideas to get your day started right).
Those are just a few ideas of the best fall snacks to keep at your standing desk and we have other ideas to keep you energized (and avoid the candy corn sugar slump). Be careful though; if word spreads around the office you could be searching the desks of your co-workers for your missing bowl of candy corn.
