Summertime is one of the most difficult seasons to have an office job. It's beautiful outside while the fluorescent lights above your workstation are giving you a dull headache. Your co-worker is on vacation again and continually sends you photos of beaches beaches and more beaches and the temptation to turn your lunch break into a day off is sounding like a pretty good idea. Bring Nature Indoors
If you can't work outside then you might as well bring some of the great outdoors into the office. Plunk a few vases of freshly cut flowers on the desks of co-workers as well as your own. Tack a few vibrant green leaves to your bulletin board for a burst of color. You could even light a candle (if it's office-approved).
Dress the Part
If your office has a more casual summer dress code by all means take advantage of it. Forego any clothing that's uncomfortable especially in summer heat and give yourself a break -- at least in the wardrobe department. Lose the tie the button-up shirt the blazer or the uncomfortable heels.
Party It Up
Your colleagues probably feel a little stifled at the office during the summer months too. Plan a party that celebrates this warm weather season and loosen up a bit at the office. It doesn't mean you need to interrupt work but it does mean you and your employees or co-workers can make some great memories and improve morale just by having a little fun that doesn't involve metrics or spreadsheets. Bring in ice cold lemonade plan a picnic set up lawn games during your lunch break or even surprise your office with ice cream sandwiches -- and a 3PM dismissal.
Plug in Your Playlist
There are some songs that have a summer vibe to them. They're the ones you want to listen to while driving in the car with the windows down feeling carefree and excited about warm weather.
