Doing anything new can take some time to get used to especially when it challenges you physically. If you've been sitting most of your working adult life adjusting to standing can take some time. But don't be discouraged. It's a change that has major benefits.

But for those just beginning their journey to better standing we've compiled a list of some simple yoga poses to try throughout your day. You may get some stares but everyone will really just be jealous of your energy improved posture and overall better attitude:

Arm Stretch 1: Bring your arms behind your back and clasp your hands together. Lift your arms as high as you can lifting your sternum at the same time. Hold for 30 seconds then relax. Repeat as desired.

Arm Stretch 2: Interlock your fingers and bring your arms outward in front of your shoulders. Your palms will be facing out. Slowly raise your hands overhead and try straightening your elbows. Hold for 30 seconds lower your arms relax and repeat as desired.

Tree Pose: Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Bring your hands together at your chest for balance. Lift one foot to sit on the opposite leg's inner thigh. Press your foot into your thigh and your thigh into your foot. Hold for 20 seconds release and relax then switch sides. Repeat as desired.
These poses along with others you may want to incorporate into your day can help increase energy decrease stress and release tension. You may just find that stretching during your day helps you to regain focus and breathe a little easier. Of course never begin any physical routine without first consulting your doctor.
